Upgrade your connection to Fibre
If your address is on an older nbn® technology — Fibre to the Node, Fibre to the Curb or Fixed Wireless — you may be able to upgrade to full Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) and unlock faster, more reliable speeds.
Most of Australia's nbn® network was built using a mix of technologies. If your home connects over old copper wiring for the last stretch to your door — Fibre to the Node (FTTN), Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) or Fixed Wireless — your maximum achievable speed can be lower than on full fibre, and more prone to faults during wet weather or over long copper runs. A Fibre upgrade replaces that last copper stretch with fibre-optic cable all the way into your premises.

How the upgrade works

We lodge the request
If you're eligible and want to go ahead, we submit the upgrade request to our wholesale network partner, Vocus Group, on your behalf.

A technician visits, if needed
Most upgrades need a technician appointment to run fibre from the street to your premises. We'll coordinate a time that works for you.

You're connected on full Fibre
Once the physical upgrade is complete, we move your service across — there's no need to reorder or start a new contract for the upgrade itself.
Good to know
Upgrade eligibility and cost depend on your address and the civil works involved — most standard upgrades within the existing footprint are completed at no charge, but some premises (for example, those needing extra trenching) may attract a quote from nbn® co, which we'll always confirm with you before you commit.

Will my plan or price change after upgrading?
No — a Fibre upgrade changes the infrastructure to your home, not your plan. You'll keep the same plan and pricing, but with the ability to reach faster tiers if you choose to upgrade your speed as well.
How long does a Fibre upgrade take?
Typically a few weeks from request to completion, depending on whether civil works (like footpath trenching) are required at your address.
Will my service be down during the upgrade?
There's usually a short outage window on the day of the technician appointment while your service is physically moved across to the new fibre connection.
What if a Fibre upgrade isn't available at my address?
Not every address is eligible yet. If yours isn't, you can stay on your current nbn® technology, or check whether Fixed Wireless or Starlink satellite internet is a better fit.
